ADA Portable Toilet Requirements for Public Events

How many ADA-compliant units your event needs, plus the placement and signage rules from the 2010 ADA standards.

ADA-compliant portable toilets aren't a nice-to-have for public events — they're required under the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design.

How many you need.

At least 1 ADA unit per 20 standard units, minimum 1 per event. Larger events with dispersed restroom clusters need one ADA unit per cluster.

What makes a unit ADA-compliant.

Ground-level entry (no step, no lip), 60-inch interior turning radius, dual grab bars, level ground placement, and clearly visible international accessibility signage.

Placement rules.

ADA units must be placed on level, firm ground with an unobstructed accessible path from event ingress. Never block the accessible unit with landscaping or event structures.

Signage.

The ISA (International Symbol of Accessibility) must be visibly displayed on the unit exterior. We install compliant signage on every ADA delivery.
